Art Students Making Fire Safety Posters; Top Artists to Join MSFD at Homecoming Parade

Art students in grades K through 5th are creating fire safety posters based on this year’s national fire safety theme, ”Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out!”

Every Fall at MSES, Mrs. Dunlap collaborates with the Manitou Springs Fire Department in educating all students about fire safety. She provides materials, class time, and art tips on designing posters for submission in MSFD’s annual poster contest. Every student will design a poster within two art classes, and entries will be delivered to the fire department by September 18 for review. The volunteer fire department staff will then choose one winner from each grade level, as well as an “overall winner” from the school. Prizes will be provided by the fire department, and will include riding in the fire truck during the Homecoming Parade; an MSFD t-shirt; and lunch at the firehouse on the day of Homecoming (September 22, 2017). As this contest is sponsored by the Manitou Springs Fire Department, participation in the contest is not mandatory. MSFD will notify winners by Wednesday, September 20.
