Desk• Thanks for attending Open House! Thank you, parents and guardians, for attending our annual MSES Open House last week! The partnership you show between school and school community (our clients and owners) makes a powerful system for our children’s success. And what a powerful message for our kids: all the adults are pulling together for them, learning about the academic program, being present at their school, caring about them and making them feel safe. Thank you!

• No School Oct. 18: Please mark your calendars: On October 18, Manitou Springs School District 14 will host a statewide Student Council Convention. Because of the capacity needs for buses and buildings in the district to support that convention, there will be no school for students all day the day of Oct. 18. During that time, MSES teachers will be undergoing a major training on the use of student data from our Aspire formative assessment to help your child learn more and better! Oct. 18 had been posted as a half-day for students on the MSES calendar, but must instead be a full day without students. As always, our YMCA program is ready and able to offer daycare support. Please contact the front office for more information about YMCA programming. Classes will resume as normal Monday, Oct. 21.

• Walking School Bus! Just a reminder that we offer Walking School Bus fun and exercise each Friday morning at 7:30 from two sites: Memorial Park and Miramont Castle. Join the happy crew walking (and hang out with Mr. Vogel walking from Miramont) Friday mornings, with your parents or on your own, in our big imaginary school bus!
