Welcome to the PAC! Parent Action Committee

Welcome to a new school year at Manitou Springs Elementary School. We are the PAC “Parent Action Committee” and our purpose is to represent you and encourage you, the parent, to get involved in your kid’s school activities. We are similar to a PTO or PTA, we are a group of parents seeking to be more involved in supporting our students, teachers and school as a whole.

PAC is a place where creative and fun ideas for student and faculty support come to life! It’s a time for parents to meet other MSES parents, become familiar with inner workings of the school and offer support to one another. PAC sponsors many activities that provide fun and meaningful ways for you to participate in your child’s school experience. PAC publishes the school directory and provides mini grants to MSES teachers and staff. These miniĀgrants are a way to purchase items not easily provided for in a tight school budget. We also sponsor Maniboo, a Family Game Night and the Fun Run in the Spring. We also choose one “big project” each year that benefits our children. Examples of past projects include: Roxy, our facility dog, the marquee in front of the building and the Earth Room.

PAC fundraises by selling grocery cards. Every time you purchase and use your grocery card you are donating a portion of those monies to the school! Grocery cards are available at all PAC functions as well as at the front desk and are easily reloaded before you buy your groceries!

PAC is about you, the parent. We want to hear from you and your ideas for fun and meaningful ways you can interact with your child; ways to help your child interact with others; and ways for our teachers to gain the tools necessary to do their job well.

We look forward to meeting all of you and hope that you can attend a PAC meeting. PAC meetings will be held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month in the mornings from 8:10 a.m. to 9:30 a.m; normally in the MSES Commons. If you cannot attend, you can still be involved. Ask to be added to our email list! We want to make these meetings fun, so be on the lookout for announcements regarding themes and other locations.
