Whole School is Reading Kenny and the Dragon!
Posted on 10/08/2018
Kenny and the DragonFamilies are already busy reading chapters of our 2018-19 Whole School Reads book, Kenny and the Dragon, at home this week. We introduced the book and gave a copy to every family among the 400 folks who attended last week’s Literacy Night event. If your family could not attend Literacy Night, there are books, Reading Promise contracts, and completed-chapter coupons available for free in the office.
Answer these Kenny and the Dragon questions as you read the first couple of chapters this week:
• Why does the story begin “Once Upon a Farm” instead of “Once Upon a Time”?
• What character said, “Get your dirty hands out of my chowder!”
• Which character describes seeing an animal that looked like a “crocagator”?
• What did you picture when Dad described the weird whooshing sound coming from the hill?

When students turn in a coupon for having read a chapter, they will be given a new dragon scale to take home and color, or color here at school at an appropriate time, and turn back into us. We will proudly honor their reading effort by placing their colorful scale on our giant dragon by the commons!
