MSES offers services in both reading and math intervention. The intervention team identifies and assists students who struggle in these areas, offering direct, small group instruction. We use a variety of teaching tools and assessments to meet the individual needs of our students, including the DIBELS Next (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) assessment, SIPPS (Systematic Instruction in Phonological Awareness, Phonics, and Sight Words) and Really Great Reading literacy curricula, and the digital iReady math program. We look forward to working with any students who need an opportunity for a more intensive, individualized approach to learning!
Danae Duke MSES Intervention
Over my last 30 years in education, I have had the great fortune to serve as a classroom teacher, interventionist, literacy coach, and school director. My passion to support struggling students in their reading, writing, and math skills continually pushes me to learn new teaching techniques and methodologies. Some of my other passions include hiking, crocheting, reading, and playing my flute. My favorite people are my husband, David, my daughter, Tricia, and my cat, Professor McGonagall…and of course, the students and staff of MSES!
Keren Hale
Keren Hale is excited to be part of the Intervention Team at Manitou Springs Elementary School. She retired from classroom teaching in California last May, and moved to Colorado Springs to be near family. In Keren’s free time, she loves to explore “The Springs”, hang out with her husband and two rescue pups, and, of course, read!
Judy Bray
For over 30 years, education has provided me options that have been inspiring(igniting learning), difficult(thinking you have this curriculum down & changed once again), memorable(traveling out of your comfort zone as you step toward the Great Wall of China), but always a life of service to others. In my case, it “takes a village to support a teacher”. My husband, & now two grown children & grandchildren have always been my greatest cheerleaders! I am privileged to be welcomed into the Manitou family.
